netidee Science: Call 8 launched!

In cooperation with the FWF, the Internet Foundation is once again funding excellent scientists and research projects on the technologies, social aspects and implications of the Internet.

The Internet Foundation and the FWF are launching the "netidee SCIENCE" funding program for excellent online research in order to strengthen independent basic research at Austrian universities and non-university research institutions on the opportunities and challenges of the Internet and related innovations.

Funding is provided for pioneering basic research projects that deal with the following scientific issues

- technologies and methods underlying the Internet

- social aspects and implications of the Internet

These include, for example, projects on basic technologies, the Internet of Things, information security, data protection and research into communication systems, social networks and new digital forms of communication and their social impact.

Projects are funded with up to 400,000 euros. The FWF will fund the difference in the case of grants exceeding this amount. Applications can be submitted from 11.12.2023 to 08.04.2024.
