netidee SCIENCE: Call 6 is on!

This year, the Internet Stiftung, in cooperation with the FWF, is once again supporting an excellent scientific project in the field of Internet research as part of the netidee SCIENCE funding campaign.

The Internet is open, innovative and – in the sense of respectful coexistence – free of boundaries. The projects that are funded within netidee SCIENCE embrace these qualities. Applicable for funding are scientific research projects in Austria that further develop the Internet and enable a more sustainable usage for society – no matter the scientific field nor the perspective on the Internet. In line with the open source principle, all results are made available to the general public for use and further development after completion. The grant program of Internet Stiftung has been in existence for 20 years. This year, 18 projects, 10 scholarship recipients, and one scientific research project were selected to receive grants.

nic.at Christmas donation for PAPAGENO

This year, nic.at’s Christmas donation will go to the PAPAGENO mobile children’s hospice run by the Hospice Movement Salzburg.

By combining ChatGPT technology with a browser extension, judgments published in the Federal Legal Information System (RIS) are automatically summarized, making research much easier.

netidee projects: HALE-KIDS

The HALE-KIDS project aims to protect children’s privacy in particular. Project manager Soheil Human was honored at the MyData Awards 2024-2025 for his initiatives in the field of data protection.

netidee projects: Sign language for messenger services

Over 17,000 videos of individual signs were produced as GIFs and stickers to establish sign language as an equal form of communication in digital messenger services.
