netidee SCIENCE Call 5

This year, netidee SCIENCE, the Internet Stiftungs's funding campaign, is once again awarding grants of up to 500,000 euros in cooperation with the FWF for foundational scientific research projects that increase the Austrian internet’s quality, reliability, and security.

The tender phase of netidee SCIENCE Call 5 ended on April 12, 2021. The FWF Board is currently evaluating the applications received over the past months in accordance with international quality assurance procedures (peer reviewing) for scientific projects. Award winners will be announced in October 2021.

netidee SCIENCE promotes high level research of scientists working in the field of (foundational) Internet research. In terms of content, submitted research projects should contribute to the further expansion and sustainment of the positive impact of the Internet on society.

netidee projects: OnLaunch

With OnLaunch, users of mobile apps can be informed about updates, warnings and failures. The project comes from the start-up kula, which aims to make the development of mobile apps accessible and affordable for everyone.

Stopline report centre: annual report presented

More than twice as many illegal cases were registered at the report centre against sexual abuse images of minors and National Socialism in 2023 than in the previous year. Austrian servers were not affected.

netidee projects: Opaque

With the Opaque software package, developers can set up the Opaque protocol with just a few lines of code. This enables password-based authentication without the server ever knowing the password.

With gender-appropriate tutorials, female coaching and networking in a protected virtual space, girls and young women are taught IT topics such as programming and robotics in a creative way.

The Internet Stiftung’s funding program is open for submitting innovative and successful projects and applications for scholarships until 8 July.

netidee Call 2024: Online information evening

An online information evening on the Internet Stiftung’s funding program will take place on 4 June at 6 pm. All information on submitting projects and the awarding of grants and scholarships will be provided.
