The netidee Call 20/2025 has started!

With a total of one million euros, the Internet Foundation is supporting innovative projects and theses at universities on the topic of the Internet in the 20th netidee Call.

Up to 60,000 euros in funding will be distributed per project. The grants are endowed with 6,000 euros for diploma or master's theses and 12,000 euros for dissertations/PhDs. In total, one million euros is in the funding pot. All information is available at www.netidee.at. Applications can be submitted online until July 7, 2025, after which the funding advisory board will evaluate the applications. The new recipients and the winners of the special prizes will be announced in November.

The Martin Prager Integration Prize of 3,000 euros will be awarded again this year. This was established in memory of the late board member of the Internet Foundation KR Ing. Martin Prager. The prize is awarded to the sponsored project that best aims to strengthen digital participation and the use of the Internet for integrative purposes.

This year's special prize is dedicated to data integrity on the internet at the interface between humans and machines. The increasing presence of bots on social media platforms, computer-generated communication and the dissemination of content created by users interacting with artificial intelligence are currently raising many questions. In particular, the lack of traceability of the authenticity of data on the internet is a key issue. The key question is how much of what we see online is actually generated by humans and how much is already generated by machines. Projects that contribute to the transparency, analysis or further development of these topics play a key role in this. An additional 3,000 euros in funding will be awarded to an outstanding project in this field.

All funded project results must be published for use and further development under open source or Creative Commons licenses so that the entire Internet community can benefit from them. The entire funding process takes place online, from application to payment of the funding.  Applications can be submitted online at www.netidee.at until July 7, 2025.
